The Horizon OptiMaxx Transformer, coupled with the Comet CP-45 mast and Comet YS-45 tripod mount,
available from Chatt Radio, creates a system that makes your station become an on-the-air multi-band
marvel. The complete package with transformer installed is available through Chatt Radio.
All you need is the Comet CP-45 17’ extendable mast, the Comet YS-45 tripod, the Horizon OptiMaxx
Transformer, and a feed line. It’s perfect for POTA, ARRL Field Day, and portable or permanent installs.
The Horizon Opti-Maxx Transformer gives immediate access to several HF bands. Additionally, you are able
to access 2 meter and 70 cm repeaters and simplex frequencies. It follows your transceiver and changes
bands without pushing any buttons, adding any ground radials, or re-tuning. You can work more stations
in less time than ever before. Plus, it is priced less than most cumbersome and marginal antennas sold by
other companies.

What this means:
Based on the measured SWR curve, this antenna delivers excellent no-tuner performance across the majority of the HF spectrum. Most radios will run comfortably across 10–30 meters, with nearly flat SWR across 10, 15, 17, 20, and 30 meters. These bands show a consistent 1.1:1 match, making them ideal for full-power operation without stressing the finals or engaging an ATU.
On 12 meters, the match remains very usable with an SWR of 1.7:1, which is well within the tolerance of modern transceivers.
On 40 meters, the SWR ranges from 1.2:1 to 1.4:1, allowing solid performance with no tuner required for most rigs.
Lower-frequency bands such as 80 meters and 160 meters naturally show broader swings, with SWR ranging 1.9:1 to 2.4:1 on 80 m and 1.2:1 to 1.7:1 on 160 m. Many radios will be happy here, but internal tuners can easily clean up the match for optimal performance.
VHF/UHF results are excellent as well, with 70 cm holding a steady 1.1:1 and 2 meters staying between 1.1:1 and 1.2:1 across the band. 6 meters performs well with an SWR of 1.2:1 to 1.7:1, depending on placement and surroundings.
Overall, this antenna provides wide-band, multi-band coverage with minimal need for a tuner, making it ideal for operators who want simple setup, strong performance, and clean matching across a large portion of the spectrum.
