Horizon UltraLite “Shooting Star”

Low angle. Long reach. Zero hassle.
The UltraLite Shooting Star is a center-fed vertical dipole engineered around Horizon’s low takeoff-angle architecture. It concentrates energy close to the horizon (≈ 27° typical), where HF skywave propagation is most efficient—so your first hop carries farther with less fuss. Compact, factory-tuned, and travel-ready, it’s built for home stations, rapid-deploy field work, and emergency comms.

Key features

Bands

10–40 meters (HF).
Most stations achieve a solid match across the intended segments. Your transceiver's tuner can broaden matching on some frequencies depending on band and installation.

What’s included (antenna-only)

  • UltraLite Shooting Star antenna (upper/lower verticals + cross-arms)
  • Center feed transformer assembly with SO-239 (50 Ω)
  • Mounting hardware
  • Quick-start tuning notes
  • Ground mounting pole

UltraLite Shooting Star Package

Includes:

  • QuadraStand
  • lightweight travel bag.

SHOOTING STAR ANTENNA ONLY

What’s included: UltraLite Shooting Star antenna (center-fed vertical dipole) + quick-start/tuning notes.
Band coverage: 10–40 meters (HF).

QuadraStand

The Horizon QuadraStand is perfect for portable use. It's lightweight, easily assembles and disassembles, and it fits neatly into our Horizon Travel Bag.

HORIZON TRAVEL BAG

Our 36" x 10" x 10" waterproof heavy duty oxford cloth Travel Bag is perfect for any portable adventure.

How it works?

The Shooting Star’s geometry and feed strategy promote low-angle radiation—precisely where ionospheric skip is most effective for long distance. Compared to typical high-angle solutions, you get stronger first-bounce performance without towers, rotors, or radial fields.

Setup (typical)

  1. Attach lower and upper cross-arms; verify symmetry.
  2. Install the center feed assembly; snug hardware (do not over-torque).
  3. Mount on your stand or mast (QuadraStand recommended for portable use).
  4. Connect 50 Ω coax (PL-259 ↔ SO-239).
  5. Power up at low power, verify SWR.

Recommended accessories

  • Horizon QuadraStand – rapid-deploy four-leg ground stand.
  • Horizon Travel Bag – padded, compartmentalized, water resistant storage.
